W. Bernt King, Lead Pastor
Bear (Bernt) grew up in the country of Sweden as a missionary kid. While his career has centered around a passion for student development in higher education, he is also deeply committed to worship ministries and outreach in each of the contexts that he has served in. Bernt has led worship in a variety of settings, such as in church, college chapels, conferences and other special events. However, Bernt's primary joy comes from simply being part of a team of people that strive together to lead worship in meaningful ways. You will find he and his wife Ginger, are deeply committed to encouraging followers of Christ to seek a life that glorifies God first.
Bernt's college education began at LeTourneau University and he completed his B.A. from Washington Bible College. He holds an M.Div. and a Th.M. from Capital Bible Seminary and an Ed.D. from Azusa Pacific University. Bernt and Ginger have been best friends and close allies since the summer of 1995, and they have been married since 1996. The Lord has gifted them with four beautiful children, Joanna, Ashley who is married to Carter, Kaeleigh, and JB (or Joseph). The family enjoys anything active, and chances are you will find them wrapped around some game somewhere. You can't miss them ... they are loud.
Joseph D. Burchill, Executive & Discipleship Pastor
Joe (Joseph) grew up in Coalport, PA. Following graduation from Toccoa Falls College, he pastored Alliances Churches in Corry and then Butler, PA. For sixteen years, Joe served the Western PA District of the C&MA as the Director of Christian Education and Administration. He traveled extensively as a teacher trainer, Curriculum developer, and consultant for the C&MA and other evangelical organizations. He has served on various county and state education boards as well as completed his master's degree in adult and community education at IUP. In 2002, the Burchills joined the C&MA National Office as Associate Director of Life Impact Ministries.
He joined the LAC Staff in August of 2009 as the Pastor for Discipleship Ministries. Joe and his wife, Joy, live in Landisville, love to travel, love good books and good food. They have two children. Beth is a corporate conference planner in Alexandria, VA. Nathan is married to Amy and is an Assistant Vice President of a tech company in Chicago.
Rick Rosati, Students & Family Engagement Pastor
Rick grew up in New England but has served in various roles in GA, NC, and PA as Pastor of Students and Development as well as roles in a mental health facility and church planting. Rick and his wife Becky are deeply committed to the gospel and passionate for the Holy Spirits' transformation in the next generation.
Rick holds a B.S. in Pastoral Ministry from Toccoa Falls College, a M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Crown College and is currently working toward a P.h.D from Captial Seminary and Graduate school.
Rick and Becky have been married since 1999 and have three adult children. They enjoy spending time outside at the beach, on a trail, or by the water whenever possible.
Ray Taylor, Connection & Worship Pastor
Ray currently resides in Lancaster, PA but is originally from Baltimore, MD. In the fall of 2001, he began attending Lancaster Bible College where he studied Pastoral Ministry and graduated with a B.S. in Biblical Studies. It was there that he met his wife, Erin, in the college's first gospel choir they started with a few other students. A year after graduating from Lancaster Bible College, he married Erin in 2007.
Shortly after, he took on the position as a deacon of music at New Life Christian Fellowship where he served for 6 1/2 years. The Lord led them to later serve the young adult ministry at Worship Center in Leola, PA. They volunteered as worship team core leaders for three years until their son Julian was born in 2019. Ray and Erin are devoted to and find great joy in raising their son. They also spend time discipling young adults. It is a joy and blessing to use their home as a ministry. “Come as you are,” is a beloved phrase for the Taylor household. Ray loves reading, playing basketball, shooting pool, and spending quality time at home with Erin and Julian.
Dan McClary, Connections, Missions & Outreach Director
Dan grew up in Michigan, where he met his wife Jenny in high school. During their 36 years of marriage, Dan and Jenny have lived in Kentucky, Arizona, Georgia, Texas, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. They also lived outside of the U.S. in Ethiopia and Germany over a ten-year period while serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Prior to LAC, Dan worked at Immerse International, Lancaster Bible College, and Millersville University. He holds a B.S. in Art and English Education from Asbury University, an M.A. in Intercultural Studies and Teaching English as a Second Language, and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Transformational Teaching and Learning from Kutztown University.
Dan is a teacher at heart who loves traveling the trail of learning and growth. He is energized by facilitating those activities for others who want to explore. He has recognized how moving out of known spaces and comfort zones in his own spiritual journey has been significant in transforming him. He also loves building bridges of connection and community. Dan and Jenny have been blessed with five children and three grandchildren. Their interests are spending time with family, walks, bike rides, traveling, reading, movies, and games.
Patty Schappell, Preschool Director
Patty and her husband Joe have been attending LAC for 30 years. She has been the director of preschool ministries for 22 of those years. She has two daughters Becca who besides being a pastry chef is a huge part of the preschool ministries. Laurel is currently in a MD/PhD program at Stonybrook School of Medicine.
Patty, Joe, and Becca see this as a family ministry and spend many hours changing themes, updating classrooms and bulletin boards to keep the preschool ministry vibrant and exciting. They can always be found in the preschool hallway greeting preschoolers and their parents.
Patty and Joe are now empty nesters and are embarking on new adventures. They enjoy doing projects together whether it be cooking, building things, or bike rides. They are excited for where God is directing them in this new season of life.
Sarah Brittin, K-4 Ministry and Family Engagement Director
Sarah grew up in Connecticut with her three brothers and wonderful parents. After high school, she attended a one-year Bible program in Massachusetts called BICS. During that year she was able to visit Israel and see many biblical sites. Once she completed the program, she attended Lancaster Bible College where she received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Biblical Studies. Throughout her life, she has served in ministry in many capacities, such as camps, music, and youth.
During her senior year of college, she realized that she was not called to be a teacher, but she loved working with kids and ministry. She is passionate about the gospel of Jesus and what it means to children. Sarah enjoys spending time with others, being outside, and playing music.

Mary Brusstar
Bookkeeper
Mary was born in Chester, PA. She has lived all over the country, from Washington State and California, to Colorado, and then back home to Pennsylvania.
She met her husband Kent at work, and they have been married for 41 years. They have 4 grown children, and 7 grandchildren.
Mary has been in the bookkeeping/accounting field since she was 18, and just loves it. Of course, there was a slight detour when she was the administrator of a cemetery/crematorium. But after a few years, she returned to the fun stuff- numbers!
Mary and her husband Kent are area reps with the CMA- Christian Motorcycle Association, and spend most of their free time out ministering to those in the motorcycle community.
She spends her spare time baking, knitting, reading, solving puzzles.
Mary is so excited to be part of the staff here at LAC. She loves the way everyone is so genuinely friendly and work together, and is humbled and happy to be part of the ministry of the church.
Jean Chaney
Custodian
Jean was born in Lancaster County, but moved with her family at age ten to Tioga County where her parents were church planters for the Mennonite church. She returned to Lancaster County to attend Lancaster Mennonite High School and upon graduation entered the RN Nursing Program at LGH. She retired from Ephrata Hospital. Jean has three children and four grandchildren. She and her husband, Vic, enjoy traveling, especially in the New England states. She enjoys anything outdoors and just being in the woods.
Matt Hartsock
Band Director & Worship Assistant
Matt was raised Iowa. He and his wife Audrey have been attending LAC since 1990. He has a passion for worship and music and has served in various volunteer positions with Worship Ministries for over 30 years. He also has a graphic design background and is a full-time health coach. He and Audrey love to spend time with their two adult daughters, Kate married to Noah, and Meg married to Ryan. Besides spending time with his family, some of Matt’s hobbies include playing piano, hiking at their mountain cabin with their two dogs, and traveling with his beautiful wife!
Anita Hatch
Lead Pastor Executive Assistant
Communications Director
Anita serves as the Assistant to the Lead Pastor and has been on staff since September 2002. She is grateful for the opportunity to utilize her gifts while serving together with some amazing people. After receiving her Music Education degree in 1991 from Lancaster Bible College, she taught music for three years before transitioning into full-time mom, followed by a call to church ministry. Anita is married to Kelvin, whom she met at LAC and were married at the church in 1991 and continue to serve in various leadership roles. They are blessed with three adult children, Austin married to Jamie, Kiersten, and Kaley married to Alex whom they love spending time together. Anita enjoys discipling young women, watching soccer, scrapbooking, entertaining, vacationing, and camping together with family and friends.
Becca Schappell-Smith
Office & Congregational Care Assistant
Becca was raised here at LAC and has been an active part of our church for almost 22 years. She currently lives in Manheim with her husband, Cory, and enjoys making cakes and redoing her house in her free time. She also teaches preschool at LAC and is very excited for a new chapter in the front office.
Jake Smith
Administrative Assistant for LAC Students
Jake is an only child with two wonderful parents. He was born and raised in Milton, DE, a small town along the eastern shore. In the fall of 2021, he began his college career attending Lancaster Bible College where he currently studies Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Jake had attended an Alliance church for 18 years before getting connected with LAC in 2021, where he now serves. In his free time, you may see him fishing early in the morning, going to the beach, or maybe even taking a walk outside.
Jennifer Westcott
Communications Coordinator/Office Assistant
Jennifer and her husband relocated from New England in 2011 to Lancaster. Jennifer graduated from Salve Regina
University, Newport, RI with a BA degree, majoring in English. She loves
spending time with her children, family and friends, reading, walking, and
vacationing at the beach.
