Carl S. McGarvey, Lead Pastor
Carl S. McGarvey was raised in north central Pennsylvania. After attending Asbury College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, he pastored the DesPlaines Alliance Bible Church in suburban Chicago for five years. In 1985 the McGarveys were appointed as Christian and Missionary Alliance missionaries to the Philippines where they served in church planning and leadership development ministries. In 1991 Carl was asked to return to the headquarters of the C&MA in Colorado Springs, CO where he served for 11 years as the missionary candidate director responsible for the preparation and selection of Alliance missionary personnel. In 2002 he became the director for candidate development for the Alliance in the US focusing on the regionalization and reengineering of the movement’s personnel development strategy. McGarvey assumed responsibilities as lead pastor of the Lancaster Alliance Church in September of 2008. Carl is married to Patty, his wife of 30 years. They are the parents of three children. Kristy serves in student development at Crown College in St. Bonifacius MN. Nathan (25) is a musician and lives in Denver. David is a freshman at Northwestern College in Orange City Iowa. The McGarveys live in Eden.

Anita Hatch, Worship Ministries Coordinator
Anita’s vast responsibilities include coordinating schedules for Worship Ministries activities, providing oversight to the orchestra and kids’ choir, directing the choir ministry, planning worship music, organizing special events and seeking music ministry opportunities. She couldn’t do all of this without the aid and support of the Worship Ministries volunteer Team Leaders: Beth Fisher and Matt Hartsock. Anita officially joined the staff in Spring 2003. She and her husband Kelvin and their three children (Austin, Kiersten, and Kaley) enjoy camping, gardening and playing games together. She is a former music teacher who continues to give private piano lessons from her home.

Doug & Janet Enck, Children's Ministries
Even the littlest of God's people can understand His love for them, and as director's of our Children's Ministries since 1992, Doug and Janet Enck have built a program that not only touches the hearts of kids, but the hearts of their parents as well. In addition to her church duties, Janet assists in writing children's educational materials for the C&MA denomination. The Encks have a grown daughter with children of her own. Doug and Janet enjoy spending time in God's Word and developing creative way to show children how it applies to their lives.

Randy Keith, Student Ministry Director
Randy has been a volunteer with the student ministry for over 2 years and moved into the Ministry Director role in 2007. His main ministry responsibility is oversight of Sr. High and Jr. High Ministries and connecting with the students as well as assisting in oversight of volunteer staff. Prior to moving to the Lancaster area Randy was the youth director for Curwensville Alliance Church for three years. He is currently enrolled in the Alliance Ministerial Study Program and is currently pursuing his licensing through the Alliance. Randy's future goal is to become ordained and continue to work in youth ministry. Randy and his wife Melissa were married in 1996 and have 3 daughters Lyndsy, Ashley, and Evelynn.

Holly Tanner, Student Ministry Associate
Growing up in Northern New Jersey, Holly moved to the Lancaster area after graduating from Messiah College in 1987. It was during this time that she began to develop a real passion for teenagers. She had been a volunteer with the Student Ministry for nearly 5 years before moving into her role as Student Ministry Associate where she assists Randy in the oversight of the High School and Middle School programs. Holly and her husband, Rob, have been married since 1986 and have one daughter, Sydney.

Fred Joost, Church Administrator
Born and raised in the Lancaster area, Fred Joost joined the C&MA staff in January 2001 as Church Administrator following a 35-year career in engineering and plant management at Armstrong World Industries. An enthusiastic team player, Fred provides oversight and direction in a variety of areas within the church and he is also actively involved in leadership with the local Boy Scout Council. Along with his wife, Rosie, Fred's greatest joys come in spending time with their three married children and five grandchildren.

Patty Schappell, Director of Preschool Ministries
Dedicated to serving children as her mission field, Patty Schappell oversees the nurseries and preschool classrooms of Lancaster C&MA each week. A former elementary school teacher, Patty enjoys reading and bike riding with her husband, Joe, and their daughters, Rebecca and Laurel.

Karen Linton, Church Office Manager
Since 1992, Karen has been a part of the C&MA staff, serving wherever needed. Variety is definitely the spice of life when it comes to her work. She moved into her current role as full time secretary in January of 2002. Karen enjoys playing behind the scenes role, in the church musical productions, as makeup coordinator. On the home front, children: Chad, TJ and Tara keep Karen on her knees. She has a dedication to lifting God's people in prayer.

Mike Rankin, Building & Grounds Supervisor
Beginning in 1997, Mike Rankin has overseen the upkeep of the buildings and grounds here at Lancaster C&MA. In addition to his work at the church, he has served on a number of short-term missions trips and enjoys woodworking and home remodeling in his spare time. Mike and his wife, Kay, have married twin daughters, Monette and Michelle.
