We have different gifts, according to the grace given us... If it is teaching, let him teach... if it is leadership, let him govern diligently. Romans 12:6-8

cmcgarvey@lancastercma.org

Carl S. McGarvey was raised in north central Pennsylvania. After attending Asbury College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, he pastored the DesPlaines Alliance Bible Church in suburban Chicago for five years. In 1985 the McGarveys were appointed as Christian and Missionary Alliance missionaries to the Philippines where they served in church planning and leadership development ministries. In 1991 Carl was asked to return to the headquarters of the C&MA in Colorado Springs, CO, where he served for 11 years as the missionary candidate director responsible for the preparation and selection of Alliance missionary personnel. In 2002 he became the director for candidate development for the Alliance in the US, focusing on the regionalization and reengineering of the movement's personnel development strategy.

McGarvey assumed responsibilities as lead pastor of the Lancaster Alliance Church in September of 2008. Carl is married to Patty since 1978. They are the parents of three children. Kristy serves in student development at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN. Nathan lives and works in Denver, CO. David is a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. The McGarveys live in Lancaster.

Douglas L. Enck is a native of Lancaster County. He grew up in Lititz and started working with his father in the family business Enck's Texaco in Akron, PA. He began attending Lancaster Alliance Church with his then-fiancé, Janet. Following their marriage, the Encks volunteered in youth ministry, children's ministry and short term missions trips. It was on a short term missions trip to Mexico where God called Doug into full-time Christian service. In 1992, Lancaster Alliance Church asked Doug to become the Children's Pastor. While serving in this role, Doug graduated from the Ministerial Studies Program under the Christian & Missionary Alliance and was ordained in 2003. In addition to children's ministry, Doug also gives leadership to the Care Ministries of the church and co-directs Instruments of Praise with Worship Ministries Coordinator Anita Hatch. Doug also gives leadership to short-term missions trips.

Doug's wife Janet is also on staff at the church. They have a grown daughter Laura Nicole (Nikki) who is married and living in Georgia. They also dote on their two grandchildren, Leslie and Brian. Doug's favorite past-times include deer hunting, photography and playing his trumpet for the glory of the Lord.
